Gen. 2:1

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

The Hebrew word “finished” is kalah, a verb that means “to finish, end.”

FINISHED—kalah finished, end

The same Hebrew word rendered as a noun is kallah  (with slightly different vowel pointings) and means “a bride (as if perfect).”

BRIDE—hL;Kæ kallâh a bride (as perfect).

The root Hebrew word in both the verb and the noun is kalal and means “to finish, complete, (make) perfect.”

FINISH—llæK; kâlal to complete; (make) perfect.

What is “finished” on the 7th day of creation is the full and final revelation of the “bride” of Christ, i.e., the Apocalyptic woman.

Also, the creation to which she is giving birth is finished in its revelation.

In fact, the role of Christ’s bride is to perfect, complete, and finish God’s creation.
________

Ideas on Bride and Bridegroom

The bridegroom and bride are the spiritual tools through which God unfolds the idea of generic man to human consciousness. It's all about revelation.

Psalms 144: the "new song" is a reference to the song of the Lamb-- sung by the 144,000 who have gotten the victory over the image of the beast, and his number. Mrs Eddy implies that the song of the Lamb (built upon the song of Moses and the song of David) is the "song of songs" which she defines as divine Science (it's in one of her poems) "Give us not only angels’ songs, But Science vast, to which belongs The tongue of angels And the Song of Songs" (Miscellany 354:21).

The "strange children" are the children of the evil one or the mortal concept of man that comes from an material egg or embryo. Jesus referred to this false concept as a wicked generation.

In the Lord's Prayer our Leader explains that we are protected from the evil one or strange children, "In the phrase, 'Deliver us from evil,' the original PROPERLY reads, 'Deliver us from the evil one.' This reading strengthens our scientific apprehension of the petition, for Christian Science teaches us that 'the evil one,' or one evil, is but another name for the first lie and all liars" (S&H 16:15).

She then goes on to explain what the "evil one" is when she answers the question "What is man?" Perhaps because the true man cannot appear until the evil one has been exposed and dealt with!

"Mortals are the counterfeits of immortals. They are the children of the wicked one, or the one evil, which declares that man begins in dust or as a material embryo" (S&H 476:1-4).

Here the Psalmist also implies the bride (referred to as God's daughters) as having an important role in constructing the temple, generic man, "that our daughters may be as corner stones..."

Our Leader repeatedly explains the role Science, the bride, plays in constructing the temple, "Sometime we shall learn how Spirit, the great architect, has created men and women in Science. We ought to weary of the fleeting and false and to cherish nothing which hinders our highest selfhood" (S&H 68:4).

Spirit is the Holy Ghost or bride whose purpose is involves the development of our spiritual understanding (understanding that God is the only substance).

"HOLY GHOST. Divine Science; the development of eternal Life, Truth, and Love" (S&H 588:7).

Hope these thoughts help you this week!

Much love,
Kathy
